Sorry for not posting any new art for so long. But here's one I just finished.
Yet more proof that my nerd factor is indeed very high. I haven't really played D&D in a very long time. Sure, I've done drawings of other people's characters ... but played? No, not in a long time. Well, until recently. Old friend of mine started up a D&D game with a couple friends and asked if I would like to join as well. Hell yes I would! Anyways, we've been playing off and on for a quite a while now. I figure it was about time I actually drew a group picture.
So here it is. The way I drew the characters are based off how they were described to me by each player at the table. There is one exception though, that being the 2nd guy from the left. My friend Kurtis who is also an artist drew and designed his own character. He's the skinny goth looking pale Elf with red chains. His character is quite funny and sort of a parody of other "dark emo heroes" from other fantasy stories. Just explaining if you're kinda wondering why his design is "out there" compared to the rest of the characters. I basically looked at his drawing and did my own version based off his costume design.
So which one is my character? Well, I didn't want to be the dork who put his character in the front ..... so he's the Dwarf sitting down in the background. Originally, all the characters were sort of equally close to the camera .... but it looked kinda boring and typical of most group shots. So I made the composition with characters and various distances from camera. Downside of this is you can't see the full costume of some of the characters. But I'm a big fan of making group shots look like a movie poster or a photo shoot for a new fragrance line.
Hopefully, this will be the last drawing I color up using a mouse....click, click, click, click......
I'll be getting a Cintiq soon and should open my coloring horizons to new areas. I hope.
sweeeet, Tim. I can't count how many group shots I've done over the hours and hours of D&D (and later Warhammer RPG) I used to play. Kept me out of suicide! Haha. The elf costume actually fits in fine with the style of the piece. Is the resolution a bit low? Looks rough on my monitor. Hmm. D&D fragrance line? I've smelt it, man! It's a scent that lingers (especially after about the 17th hour).
lol the elf kinda reminds me of Hellsing

You Don't need to be crazy to work there but it sure helps
Rough? You mean over all or just like the line art? If you mean just the line art...well, its because it is really rough pencil sketchy line. And the scan was just so-so. But the coloring should be clean. Hmmm....have you tried looking at it on another computer? I'll look at it with one of the computers at work and see too.
Yeah, good to hear from another fellow gamer. You played Warhammer? Heh heh...that game was brutal. But about the fragrance...its easily manufactured because all you have to do is go to GenCon and open a bottle and let it capture the "essence".
na. I meant pixelated, but it must have been my connection or somt'n. I reloaded it at home and it looked much clearer! That game was VERY brutal. Much more realistic. A knife wound can be fatal after all. But makes you think twice about actually getting in a fight. hehe. I've never braved GenCon. Many years at comic cons, but one Wizards of the Coast battle-con was enough to make me wary. The stuff looks great! But for god's sake, get a wacom at least. (unless the cintiq is just around the corner...then you have my complete and bitter envy, sir!)
yah, havent seen much art from you at all. 'tis great to see i dont watch you for nothing. Looks like youre one helluva solid artist there.
And dont worry, the amount of comics ive read this week, and the amount of what ive played Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory last weekend, my nerd factory is pretty much up too

It's a nice piece and all man but now if you'd just do a photo shoot for a new fragrance line! thats what we all wanna really see from you tim, not this namby pamby fantasy silliness. MORE PERFUME PHOTO SHOOT PIN-UPS!!!!!!
I'll do an actual photo shoot for a new fragrance line only if you model for me. C'mon.....your hair alone will sell millions. I'll call the fragrance: "Dusty's Golden Waterfall" ...uh...in reference to your long hair...of course.......right......moving on now...........
